To travel the world and experience the inexperienced, right from the library.

Books allow people of all ages to experience the inexperienced. To fly on magic brooms or explore the North Pole, all from the comfort of your bedroom or library. Our mission is to give our upcoming leaders that access to these experiences. To expand their minds with the help of a hardcover or paperback, and discover new lands through it.

Who are we?

The Beatrice Martin Foundation is a nonprofit organization that strives to encourage and promote literacy amongst underprivileged youth. Through the Beatrice Martin Foundation, we hope to spread the joy of reading and provide the next generation with the skills they need to thrive in society.

Why is literacy important?

Literacy is important amongst youth because it allows them to gain knowledge, expand their vocabulary, and experience the world right from the comfort of their bed. Literacy is needed for children because it will give them the necessary skills they will need to grow and succeed in society. But, reading is more than just education. The feeling of finding the perfect book and devouring through the pages because you have to find out what happens in the end is a feeling we believe, everyone should be able to experience at least once in their life.

Anyone Can Publish, and That Means You!

Saturday, December 14 | 3:00-4:00 PM PST

In 2024, opportunities to publish your writing are more abundant than ever. Whether you craft short stories, poems, creative nonfiction (CNF), essays, comics, or illustrated/animated works, countless platforms online are eager for new voices. Hosted by Professor of English at Purdue Global James McAdams, this workshop will explore:

  1. How to find calls for submissions (and what that means)

  2. Best practices for professionally formatting a submission

  3. Writing effective cover letters and query letters

  4. The pros and cons of self-publishing

  5. Tips to become a better writerβ€”spoiler: the key is to write every day, no matter how rough it is! Even "bad" writing is infinitely better than no writing at all.
