Must-Read YA Books

By Jane Laurey

Are you nervous about school starting? Or maybe you’ve already started and feel ridiculously overwhelmed by your long list of AP classes and extracurriculars. Whatever the case, a good book is a surefire way to fight the back-to-school blues and escape the stress of a new school year.

If you’re already dreaming about your hoco date, curl up with one of these lighthearted YA romance books:

  • Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

  • To All the Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han

  • The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

If you want to forget about all your responsibilities for a couple of hours and go to another world, crack open one of these fantasy books:

  • Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

  • The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

If you need some inspiration to finally start that assignment you’ve been dreading all week, a dystopian book is definitely the way to go. If the protagonist can save the world at 16, you can definitely finish that essay before the due date! Pick up one of these dystopian books:

  • Cinder by Marissa Meyer

  • Divergent by Veronica Roth

  • Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Hopefully one of these books helps you kick off the new school year the right way and avoid having a back to school book slump this year.
